Winding Down for Wellness

by The Sandbox Staff | May 17 2018

With the end of the school year approaching, everyone is working hard to wrap things up before the summer months. When life gets hectic and your mind is preoccupied, it’s easy to forget the importance of taking time to recharge. Luckily, we’ve got some tips to help you and your colleagues during life’s busy times.

  • Write it out. Not only is it relaxing, journaling is also a great way to stay organized and bring yourself some peace of mind. As Jennifer Carson points out, this doesn’t have to be a solitary activity—get together with your coworkers to share tips or even just show off your doodling skills!
  • Get physical. We know there are a multitude of benefits that come from physical activity, including the opportunity for a brain break. Whether it’s enjoying the warmer weather by going for a walk with your colleagues during lunch or a more structured workplace physical activity program, incorporating more movement into your day is a great way to unwind.
  • Be grateful. There’s no better time than when life’s busy to take a moment and appreciate all the little things that make up the daily hustle and bustle. These gratitude activities are the perfect opportunities for your team to get together and revel in the gratitude attitude! Chances are, you’ll be left feeling re-energized and ready to take on whatever life throws your way.

It may look different for everyone, but practicing self-care is important, especially when life gets a little crazy. Taking time to unwind—whether it’s by yourself, with your colleagues or with family and friends—gives you the opportunity to recharge, ensure you’re able to stay focused through the end of the school year and still have energy left to enjoy the summer!
